The game uses the 5 reel, 30 line format and has a maximum bet of 30 coins per spin. Coin sizes range from 0.01 to 5.00 so you can be playing for as little as 0.30 or as much as 150.00 with a lot of other options in between.
Top line win on the Wizard of Oz is a big 10,000 coins for five of the Jackpot symbols. Second highest line win is 1,000 coins for either four Jackpot symbols aligned left to right or five of the Wizard of Oz logos on an active line. From there the rest of the five of a kind line wins come in at between 750 and 100 coins.
The first bonus feature on The Wizard of Oz is a reel based bonus known as the Glinda Good Witch feature. This bonus can trigger at any time and the good witch appears and turns between 1 and 5 of the reels wild for one spin (Preview). The wild reels substitute for everything but the Jackpot Symbols and the scattered Feature symbols.
If the wild reels substituted for the Jackpot symbols you would be looking at a potential 300,000 coin jackpot but instead a whole screen of wilds pays a very respectable 30,000 coins or the second highest pay of 1,000 coins on all 30 lines.
The next two features are triggered by the scattered Emerald City Feature symbols which only appear on the 1st, 3rd and 5th reel. Get all three on the screen and you get to pick one to reveal either the Road to Emerald City, The Winged Monkey or a cash award.
The Winged Monkey feature is a free spins bonus with a bit of a twist. You get 8 free games with the chance to trigger the Wings Monkey Wild Bonus. Every time the Winged Money symbol appears on the middle reel Monkeys fly over the reels and turn random positions into wilds (Preview). This feature can be re-triggered with three of the scattered Winged Monkey symbols appearing on reels 1, 3 and 5 and this awards another 8 free games.
The Road to Emerald City Bonus is where the game really stands out. Once triggered you move to a pick a box style Yellow Brick Road stage where you have a screen full of emeralds (Preview). Each pick can award either a cash prize, one of four characters or the Emerald City. You get to keep picking until you uncover an Emerald City symbol.
To get the biggest rewards from the bonus you need to find the four characters on the Road to Emerald City stage. Each time you discover a character you move to a bonus screen stage where you pick one of two charms that can either reveal the character or return you to the Yellow Brick Road. The characters you need to find are;
- Dorothy at the Wicked Witch Castle (Preview)
- Scarecrow in the Scarecrow Corn Field (Preview)
- Tin Man in the Apple Orchard (Preview)
- Cowardly Lion in the Dark Forest (Preview)
When you uncover an Emerald City symbol the Yellow Brick Road bonus ends and you're off to see the Wizard of Oz. If you didn't find any of the characters the gates are locked but you get a second chance to win a character by picking one of the gold charms (Preview). You can then either win a character or a final cash prize.

When Wizard of Oz appeared on the cinema screens in 1939, it would have been impossible to predict that the film would still have a huge impact today. In fact, the Wizard of Oz would make a loss at the box office at first and it was only after a re-release in 1949 that the movie finally made a profit. As we approach nearly 80 years since the original release, the film is now a much-loved family classic, especially during the festive period. The film has seen many spin offs, including sequels and both Muppet and Tom and Jerry versions of the movie. A number of casino slots have been released based upon the iconic movie. ‘Wizard of Oz – Not in Kansas Anymore’ is the latest release, from Williams Interactive (WMS), and this feature filled game is a welcome addition to the series.

All-Ways Wins – The Base Game Setup
This slot has five reels and each of these show four symbols. The slot pays from left to right as usual, but the usual win lines are dispensed with, as you’ll enjoy the all-ways winning system. This means that you’ll win when landing a symbol on consecutive reels, irrespective of the actual position on the reels. This all ways winning system effectively gives the player 1,024 ways to win on every spin.
The top paying symbols in the game are Dorothy, the scarecrow, the tin man, the cowardly lion and Toto, while the symbols are completed by an array of familiar images from the movie. These include the basket which Toto famously escapes from and a lollipop (as eaten by the Lollipop kids). The ruby slippers play one of the most important roles in the base game as this acts as the wild symbol, substituting for every other symbol in the game apart from the scatter. This wild symbol appears on reels 2 through 5.

About The Wizard of Oz
The Wizard of Oz was made in 1939, based on L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’. The movie was one of the first to make use of color, the opening scenes of the movie shot in black and white, until the famous moment when Dorothy arrives in Oz in glorious Technicolor.
The movie was nominated for six academy awards, although the release of ‘Gone with the Wind’ in the same year saw it beaten to the ‘Best Picture’ award and the only awards The Wizard of Oz would win were for Best Original Song (for ‘Over the Rainbow’) and Best Original Score. The movie suffered at the box office too and it would take 10 years before the original outlay had been covered in the movie theatres.
It was in 1956 that the movie first hit the TV screens, and strangely, it was the small screen that really made the film the hit it has become today, where it has become an annual tradition to watch during the festive period.
Today, The Wizard of Oz is considered to be one of the greatest movies of all time, being named number 6 on the American Film Institute’s 100 years, 100 movies list.
